Press Release January 1st, 2010

The Worldwide Book Collaboration Project concludes on time!

Just over a year ago, this unique project to write a novel collaboratively in one year commenced.

Of course, collaborative projects are not new but this one involved a group of writers from all around the world who have never met. From as far afield as Alaska to Australia and Penang to Pennsylvania the writers have toiled for one year, working around the clock through the various time zones and a string of personal challenges.

A further innovation has been to write in a truly collaborative manner, what the director Peter Lihou calls ‘parallel collaboration’.

Peter Lihou“When electing to write as a group, it is often the case that each writer creates one section then passes that to the next, what I refer to as ‘serial collaboration’.  Perhaps, a chapter each for example, but we chose to write the entire novel collaboratively with everyone having involvement in the entire document.”

The end result is a work of more than one hundred and thirty thousand words, twenty-four chapters and a dozen man (and woman) years in the making.

The challenge, of course, was not just to complete a novel; it was to createRavello a work worthy of the enormous effort and cooperation that went into it. Passage to Redemption is just such a work, with a strong environmental message the timing and significance of this thriller could not be more propitious.

Known collectively as The Crew, the various authors have numerous published titles between them but there are also novice writers amongst the numbers for whom the project has provided a valuable learning experience.

During the year, an internet forum, blog and two ‘wikis’ were used to assist in the process and now a website is being constructed which will not only feature the story of the creation of this novel and it’s details but a highly unique after sales ‘twist’ to the story. The site is already online at www.passagetoredemption.com and will be enhanced over the coming weeks and months.

The search now begins for an agent willing to handle both publication and possible film rights to this fascinating work of literature.

Press Release - International

Worldwide Book Collaboration Project

1st September, 2008

Online reseller AmazonClicks.com today announced the world’s first international book collaboration project.

GroupAspiring, unpublished and established writers from around the world will join together on 1st January 2009 for a unique one year experiment to write a Novel collaboratively.  Not only will they jointly decide all the major aspects of the book, the genre, plot and even the title, but they will write the story.

Thought to be the first large scale project of its kind in the English speaking world, the management will be mind boggling.  According to AmazonClicks.com head of marketing - Peter Lihou;

“Bringing together this number of people from across the world creates unique challenges. Everyone will have their own thoughts on what the book should be, who the characters are, what plots and story lines get included, the list is endless.  It will be like democracy gone mad as all these issues will be voted on and the majority will decide the outcome.

The key to our success will be exceptional project management, and this is something we have experience in. “

Writers do not need any previous experience and it is hoped that a wide range of applicants will come forward including complete novices and published authors. There is no financial commitment but budding authors must have access to email and the Internet to participate in the project ‘Forum’.

Not only will all participants share in the glory of becoming published authors, they will receive an equal share of the book and any related media royalties for life!

Those interested in participating should send an email to thebook@amazonclicks.com including 500 words describing who they are and why they wish to join in this unique project. The final list will be announced on 31st December, 2008.

Winner of  The Book Awards 2010 Short Story Competition!

Codename Gaby by Nik Morton

Nik MortonWith all the ingredients of a classic wartime drama, Nik Morton stole the show in the 2010 short story competition.

Codename Gaby tells of the heroic British agent ‘Elaine’ who is dropped into occupied France in the run up to D Day during the Second World War. It is tale of betrayal and extreme courage in the face of overwhelming adversity, written with great insight and sensitivity. The emotional conclusion is well crafted leaving the reader bruised but relieved, just as it should for such an intense period of wartime history.

Book Awards reviewer Kate Cavendish was emphatic about the winning merits;

“This short story captures suspense, drama and wonderful character depiction. In less than two and a half thousand words, we know and relate to our heroin, the period and her situation. The story is complete and compelling. It is a remarkable achievement and demonstrates this author’s outstanding writing skills.”

Nik receives a $100 prize for his outstanding efforts and ‘Codename Gaby’ will be available for download free of charge, throughout 2010 on The Book Awards website www.TheBookAwards.com .
